Like the Geo Tracker, or Suzuki X-90 or the first gen RAV4.

They’re still very much normal everyday vehicles here in Japan. In the United States? Soccer moms. Soccer moms killed these things. Everyone wants one of these:

Nobody bought them. Then they died a quiet death.
So sad..

Especially that X-90

To roll-over death camp along with all their drivers

Stupid joke answer, They’re all upside down in ditches.
They seemed to sell until everybody called them a rollover risk, after that they went away. Not sure if maybe cost of insurance had a lot to do with them not being kept around or if the strong economy and cheap gas at the time being more favorable to bigger SUV’s killed them off.

Most likely the same place all those 2 door coupes went
And those X-90s were cool when they came out.

I miss the 1st gen Rav4. Not really powerful compared to new stuff, but rock solid reliability from the 3sfe and ridiculously easy to work on.
I don’t like 4 door anything. Being 6'2", the b pillar tends to be a nuisance. My 01 ZX3 (2 dr hatchback) focus feels roomier than my 06 crown vic did, thanks to longer doors and a further back b pillar

The X90 is a curious little beast.
My only experience with them is in their rouge bovine advertising guise.

They didn’t go anywhere?

Juke is not A 4 door.
I love the jimny.
Didn’t know about the 2 door Vitara. I like it.
Note I may be a bit biased, my last car was a awd 6 speed SX4.

Man I would’ve loved the X90. Like an offroading Miata!

People bought the Rav 4, but as it got bigger people bought more so Toyota took the hint.

2-door cars in general aren’t successful in the US any more.
SUVs are no longer for off-road enthusiasts, they’re the new sedan.

I think the standard answer is “by the wayside.”
They were too small, underpowered, and too tippy. Why get one of these when you could get a much more capable Wrangler?

It’s basically just a Tracker with functionality removed. The latter was an excellent little truck (and yes, it’s a truck - has a ladder frame and everything). My brother had one that my Uncle bought new. Went to about 300k of serious abuse with hardly any maintenance. What finally killed it was a crossmember that rusted out and would have been covered under a recall if the car was still up north, but no longer applies once the car was in the south :( Gave it to our mechanic for practically nothing, he welded in a new crossmember, and now it’s his hunting buggy.

One of my friends had one of those in high school. It was actually pretty awesome to drive around town in
